The 2027 Grade 8 Online Admissions application period has officially been announced by the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE).

Opens: Wednesday, 5 August 2026 at 08:00
Closes: Friday, 4 September 2026 at 00:00 (Midnight)

Parents and guardians are encouraged to apply as early as possible to avoid last-minute delays and to secure placement for their child at a Gauteng public school.

All Grade 8 applications must be submitted via the Gauteng Department of Education Online Admissions System:

Supporting Documents Required

Please ensure that the following original and certified documents are available before starting the application:

• Parent/Guardian South African ID, Passport, Refugee Permit, Asylum Seeker Permit, Permanent Residence Permit or Study Permit.
• Learner’s South African Birth Certificate or Passport.
• Proof of Home Address (municipal account not older than three (3) months). Where applicable, a signed lease agreement, proof of rent payment, and a statement addressed to the tenant may be required.
• Proof of Parent/Guardian’s Work Address (if applying using the work address).
• Learner’s latest school report.
